Creating healthy environments for young children ensures that they will have opportunities to lead full, successful lives and avoid preventable diseases. OPHI works to make sure that childcare and education settings promote and support healthy kids with reduced screen time, healthy snacks and school lunches, physical activity and a tobacco-free environment. We bring together public health and early care and education professionals to promote and implement innovative and effective policy and environmental change strategies.
OPHI promotes this link between health and education through research, advocacy, and community collaboration to influence policy. Current areas and tools of support from OPHI consist of supporting the school-based clinics, research related to the connection between student performance and health, and prioritizing health as an integral part of the school environment.
