The Breastfeeding OK Ordinance is an example of policy put in place by Seattle to support breastfeeding practices by making harassment of breastfeeding women included into discrimination. While most states have laws protecting a woman’s right to breastfeed in public, this ordinance classifies the issue as an unfair practice and form of discrimination, adding additional protection to breastfeeding women, and bringing the issue into local awareness.
